The Swainsboro Fire Department is the principal fire and rescue service for the city of Swainsboro. The fire service provides emergency medical services, hazardous materials response, technical rescue, fire prevention and public education services, in addition to extinguishing fires. The Fire Department includes the chief, assistant chief, twelve full time firefighters and twenty one paid volunteer firefighters. The Swainsboro Fire Department includes certified haz-mat technicians, arson investigators, building inspectors, and certified training officers.
