Fire up those smokers — the Backyard BBQ Cookoff is coming to Downtown Swainsboro during the Pine Tree Festival!

This friendly competition is open to non-professional, backyard pitmasters who love great barbecue and a little friendly rivalry. Whether you’re known for your ribs, pulled pork, chicken, or a secret family recipe, this is your chance to compete for bragging rights and cash prizes.

🥩 2026 Meat Categories

The Backyard BBQ Cookoff will feature three meat categories:

1. CHICKEN – Includes Cornish Game Hen and Kosher Chicken.

2. PORK RIBS – Must include the bone. Country-style ribs are prohibited.

3. BOSTON BUTT – Traditional pork shoulder.
