Swainsboro’s senior citizens are special and are provided with many services and activities for their overall enjoyment and fulfillment. The Emanuel County Senior Center (ECSC) offers a vast array of quality services for older persons while endeavoring to enrich their lives and help promote maximum independence. The center has a large meeting room, dining room and kitchen, arts and crafts room, exercise room and activity facilities. The Senior Center provides delicious meals prepared on site Monday through Friday, 250 days each year. The Senior Center also offers travel opportunities, traveling to places in and outside the community. The Emanuel County Senior Center also offers a Community Action group, the CSRA, EOA Program, which helps low-income residents of Emanuel County. Each November, this program helps seniors who qualify with their heating costs, no matter what heating source they use. The group also helps low-income residents from being evicted, having their power shut off, and even helps them restore their power services if they have been shut down. They also offer a store at the Senior Center for needy families or victims of house fires where one can get clothes or household goods.
