Veterans Organizations

The veterans of Emanuel County have three outstanding Veterans Organizations right here in their community. The Swainsboro American Legion Post #103, The Swainsboro American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, Lanier-Moore Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #5745, and Voiture Locale #867. These Veteran Organizations strive to continue serving America, in all that they do. Be it community service, school programs, civic functions, or youth activities.

The American Legion in the last year has recognized five outstanding students from county schools for their grade point averages and theirroad signs leadership ability, has sponsored five young men, and three young women to attend Boys and Girls State in Statesboro Georgia, where they learn how government works and participate in running a fictional 51st state government.

The Veteran Organizations have donated money, time and materials to the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, Ga.

During the last two years, the organizations have been revitalizing the Old VFW Building on Kite Hwy, as a new post home for the Veterans. Through hard work and community support, the veterans have taken a building that was falling down and in disrepair to a building that the veterans are proud to call their own.
