Downtown Development

The Director of Downtown Development’s main objective is to foster a healthy, thriving economy in downtown Swainsboro. The Director implements the goals of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and the policies of the Main Streets Program. The Director takes an active role in revitalizing the C6-D region through expanded cultural programming, promotion of the region, recruitment of new businesses, grant-seeking for restoration projects, and education and outreach for local businesses.

Mission

The following mission of Downtown Development Authority of Swainsboro was adopted by the DDA’s Board of Directors in 2011:

The mission of the Downtown Development Authority of Swainsboro is to promote downtown as the heart of the community by enhancing economic development and showcasing the downtown’s cultural, architectural, and historic heritage.

Vision

In September 2011, the Downtown Development Authority held a community-wide visioning session in which members of the community collaborated in developing an overall vision for the future of downtown Swainsboro.

Downtown Swainsboro is a growing, vibrant cultural center that has become a destination for art and antiques and continues to grow as a business center while still keeping the small town feel and safe, family environment.
